Ozone UV Spectroscopy I: Absorption Cross-Sections at Room Temperature
نویسنده
چکیده
Because of the importance of the absorption cross-sections of ozone in the atmosphere. we give a new set of data at ambient temperature for the whole spectral region within the 195-345 nm range. Two new methods have been investigated for the experiments to measure the ozone pressures. Our results are compared with all of the previous data. The agreement between the more recent works is relatively good and can be improved by making some corrections in the WMO set. The new reference value at 254 nm proposed by Mauersberger et al. is confirmed and we suggest taking it as a new standard.

The UV/Vis absorption spectrum of matrix-isolated dichlorine peroxide, ClOOCl.
UV/Vis absorption spectra of ClOOCl isolated in neon matrices were measured in the wavelength range 220-400 nm. The purity of the trapped samples was checked by infrared and UV/Vis matrix spectroscopy as well as low-temperature Raman spectroscopy. At wavelengths below 290 nm, the results agree with the UV spectrum recently published by Pope et al. [J. Phys. Chem. A, 2007, 111, 4322-4332]. Howev...

Ozone plays a crucial role in tropospheric chemistry, is the third largest contributor to greenhouse radiative forcing after carbon dioxide and methane and also a toxic air pollutant affecting human health and agriculture. Long-term measurements of tropospheric ozone have been performed globally for more than 30 years with UV photometers, all relying on the absorption of ozone at the 253.65 nm ...

2014 Absolute measurements of the absorption cross-sections of ozone in the 310-350 nm range (Huggin’s system) were carried out at 294 and 223 K with high resolution. Our results 2014 lower than all results known to date 2014 are, within a coefficient, in very close agreement with the (relative) values obtained recently by A. M. Bass and R. J. Paur with a resolution similar to that used in this...
متن کامل(bromoform): revised UV absorption spectrum, atmospheric lifetime and ozone depletion potential
CHBr3 (bromoform) is a short-lived atmospheric trace compound that is primarily of natural origin and is a source of reactive bromine in both the troposphere and stratosphere. Estimating the overall atmospheric impact of CHBr3 and its transport to the stratosphere requires a thorough understanding of its atmospheric loss processes, which are primarily UV photolysis and reaction with the OH radi...
متن کاملA New Application of UV-Ozone Treatment in the Preparation of Substrate-Supported, Mesoporous Thin Films
A nominally room temperature photochemical method, simply employing ultraviolet light(187-254 nm) generated ozone environment, is shown to provide an efficient alternative for the removal of surfactant templates for a routine production of mesoporous silica thin films at low temperatures. The treatment concomitantly strengthens the silicate phase by fostering the condensation of unreacted silan...
